After finishing BE exams,me and my friends planned to trek Kodachadri via Hidlumane Falls..Finally we 5 members booked train ticket to Shimoga and boarded train on 2nd July night.
3rd morning we reached shimoga.From shimoga nittur is around 110kms.We reached Nittur at 10:30 Am...We contacted kodachadri guest house person Mr.Rajendra and he arranged bathroom toilet in nittur..
we finished all our duty and packed our stuffs for trekking.Guide Vijay joined us in nittur.We had good breakfast in nittur and marched towards Hidlumane.
DAY 1: Nittur to Kodachadri
Started from nittur at 12:30.We reached Hidlumane at 1.15pm.
Hidlumane is the last House from where the actual trekking begins.From hidlumane the hidlumane falls is around 1km.
The path is full of blood sucking leeches.One must have to cross 2 big boulders to reach main Hidlumane falls.
This is the first part of the falls.
First boulder is quite easy.But the second one is giant boulder.During monsoon its very difficult to cross.Some how we managed to climb that and finally we reached Hidlumane Falls.. amazing..!! no words to explain after seeing that falls.

We spent around half an hour der only.
After saying good bye to falls we started towards Kodachadri.
This is the most difficult part of the trek.
its almost 70 degree steep to climb.
Relaxing time...
Trail that we climbed.
It took around 2 hours to reach the jeep track.

After reaching jeep track we got our lives back.
We heard from our guide that its again 4-5kms trek from here.But we felt happy that its jeep track till guest house not steep trekking.. :D.
Finally after 4 hours trek we reached Kodachadri guest house
at 4:30Pm.
Thank god only one leech bit me.My friend got bitten by 11-12 leeches..!!!!!
Guest house members welcomed us and gave food.
At guest house.
Fortunately sun was out after we reached guest house..suddenly sea of clouds approached us.
After spending some time we went to bed.

cost at guest house : 500rs/head/day.
Nearest health camp : Nittur,Kattinahole,Sampekatte.
approach : There are 2 trekking trails are there to reach koadachadri.
1)From karakatte gate and santosh hotel.this is the easy trek route.
It will take around 2.5-3 hrs to trek.
2)From nittur via hidlumane falls.this is the toughest trekking trail.
It will take around 4-5 hrs to trek.During monsoon season it is not
advisable.

DeleteIt would take just an hr to trek to falls from pathalagere home stay(jeep track check post). You will encounter manjunath's home. From there it's just 10 min.
If you stand in front of falls, facing towards it, take right there.. path is clearly visible from falls.. from the falls it's again 2-3 hr journey based on your capability.

ReplyDeleteYou can trek any time of the year. In Monsoon trekking wilk be little difficult compared to trekking in the summer. You can reach kodachadri base(Sampekkatte, kodachadri cross), and manage a guide or stay.

DeleteWe a group of 5 college students from Hyderabad are planning to do the Kodachadri trek,first we are planning to visit the Holy Mookambika temple after that this trek next day maybe,can you tell from Mookambika temple side how to do the hindulmane falls route any buses available?also I don't want to go by jeep to kodachadri no fun in it, and where to hire guides from.
ReplyDeleteFrom Kollur, go to the village Nittur. Fr nittur you should find the guides. Please check in local hotels or small shops. They would take you for the trek.
